Location: 20 miles north of huntington, turn right onto Hannan Trace Road, go 1.5 miles turn right onto Guyan Creek Road, go 1.5 miles. Go by foot about 10 minutes from the road.

REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: I'd been deer hunting and decided to go a different route so not to spook the deer. It was very dark and I was using a small light so not to project out very far. As I was walking up a logging road making very little nose, I came to a slip. I had to either walk into the slip and try to climb out or walk around. I chose to walk around. As I got to the side of the slip I notice a bad smell. As I continue to climb the hill and headed back to on top of the slip I head something flying toward me. A large limb hit me in the back and a roar or scream that I can't desribe was directed toward me. I turned off the light and didn't move. The heard the animal take 2 steps out the slip about 25 yards and then 2 steps to the logging road then nothing. After a few minutes I continued up the hill. Only 4 people hunt this area and that day I was alone. No person would have done this because I was caring a gun. I am counting this as my first experince but I have heard footsteps in the same area several time and the feeling of something watching you is everywhere. The scary thought, I almost walked through the slip!
