Description of event: Me and my friend were at our boyscout camp one weekend trying to earn some extra bagdes. When it was time to go to sleep, we went in our tent and talked for a while. We decided that we would try to stay up for the night. I was ten at the time. We stayed awake for a while when we both had to go to the bathroom. It was about 1:30 p.m when we went. we walked about 50 ft. from camp and crossed the dirt road to get to bush on the other side. As we were going i told my friend next to me i smelt something like garbage. He told me he smelt it to. We just shrugged it of as nothing. but then when we were done and getting ready to head back, I noticed a figure standing in the middle of the road. It was about 20 ft. away, and stood about 9 ft. tall. We both stood there frozen with fear thinking it was a florida black bear. We stayed there staring at it for about 1 mn. then it walked with a big stride into the brush on the side of the rode. Then the smell faded away. When we got back to our tent we talked about what it could have been. I was a little expert on florida wildlife, and i knew that black bears arnt that tall, and that they dont walked with such a long stride. so we eventually forgot about it, an we didnt tell anyone, because we were not suppose to leave our tents alone at night. I never told my parents. Theyed think i was dreaming but i know it was real. Then when i got older i started hearing about the florida skunk ape, and i think thats the only thing it could have been.
