Location: The sighting took place in a 6 foot deep ditch on the SW corner of county road 8 & 15 in Scott County, Minnesota. county road 8 can be accessed from the east off of Hwy 13 or from the west off County road 21.

REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: First, this is a second hand account. It was actually my husband who had the initial sighting. Yes, I did say initial. In January of 2004, I was working on a medium sized horse farm in Scott County, because my husband was laid off during that time he would, on the occasion, come out and assist me with the farm chores. One day, (I believe it was a Thursday because he had driven his son to school and dropped him off) he stopped by the farm to check up on me. I was doing really well that day and since it was so cold I told him not to bother staying and that I would see him later at home. He left the farm and proceeded home.

From here on is his story as told to me: He was driving south on county road 15. When he got to county road 8 he stopped at the 4 way stop, he then proceeded through, still on county road 15. When he was approx. 30-40 feet out of the intersection he looked in his rear view mirror and saw a large black figure rise up out of the ditch of the southwest corner of 8 & 15. He said he stopped immediately (so by this time he was probably 35-50 feet from the intersection) and turned around to look at the figure. He told me that it was big, the ditch is about 6 feet deep and he could see the figure from mid-torso up. He said it was broad, black in color and stood slightly hunched. He could not see a face or any other clear details. As he watched it, he stepped up out of the ditch to the edge of county road 8. He got a clear look at the height and said the figure was 6.5-7 feet tall or even taller, he said it was hard to tell. The figure looked both ways of county road 8 for traffic and proceeds across to the NW side. When it reached the other side it went down into the ditch and moved to the ditch along side of county road 15. He said it hesitated a few moments and then proceeded up the ditch to county road 15. It looked both ways again and "hurried" across county road 15 to the NE side of 15. It went into the ditch and up into a field and started across the field towards a large wooded area. My husband then started to drive again.

He said he thought about turning around and "checking" out the figure but didn't because he thought perhaps it was a jogger. The temperature that day was 15 degrees below zero and joggers don't typically go into ditches. Also, he said that when the figure walked it was like the locomotion style of the creature on the Patterson Film. The next week I noticed that the horses I worked with were agitated and running around their enclosure. I stopped what I was doing and watched them. They seemed fixated on the wooded area behind their enclosure and when I looked over I noticed a large black figure. I had started bringing my binoculars (because of my husbands possible sighting) and when I trained them on the figure I noticed it was a large, black figure and it was leaning against a tree watching the horses. The figure didn't seem menacing, but relaxed. My binoculars were not the best so I didn't see any particular features other than the fact that it was big and black. After a few seconds of watching the figure it must have noticed me watching because it backed into the woods and left. This happened one other time in that same week but the second time it left the moment it realized I spotted it in the trees.
