Description of event: It was a rare day to have the wind blowing up stream and the woods were awfully quiet that day, I had met friends for cookout and decided to kayak to first Island and back before we ate.I had a female partner that day ,this was the first and last time we met.As we approached the island I asked her to file in behind me and be very quiet I would hug the steep side of the island to see if we could see any wild life,As we started in to our little journey, I saw a large object drop from high in a tree and then heard the loudest stamping and running Id ever heard, I instantly turned my kayak to get out from shore as to see what made this noise,as I searched the shore line my ears picked up a loud water noise and I looked to my left to see A Large All gray animal walking away from us, It was knee deep in the water and walking hunched over, I looked to see it had legs,butt cheeks,It had no ears like a bear,It turned to the left and walked around a fallen tree I got to see its face at this time and it was flat and all black,The sun peeked threw to show its silvery coat and the hair on its back side reminded me of my sheep dog!!I judged the size by the tree it walked around,Im 6 ft the tree was taller than me and like I said it was knee deep in the water,Id say 8 to 9 ft and very broad shoulders,Id say it looked like a gorilla with human portioned legs,incredibly fast to cover that area so quick,No smell no noise other than it running on shore..It was loud,like a stamping press..Ive never heard anything that loud run.
