Description of event: This incident happened back in my High school days,however it was an experience that I remember very well. It was in the early fall. It was cold enough at night to see your breath and wear a light coat, but not many leaves fell yet. My experience started when going to a friends house later at night. Everyone was sitting around drinking. I wasn't having a good time because my stomach was sour and I only had a half a beer. I wanted to leave but my ride didn't,so I decided to walk home. It was about four or five miles home, mostly on a back country road. I didn't think much of it because I liked to hike and thought that maybe I could hitch a ride from someone along the way.

By the time I reached the more rural part of town on North Farms road, it was probably one o'clock in the morning and was very dark. There was little if any moon lite and few if any street lites. I heard a noise in a patch of woods between two houses on the East side of the road, which startled me because it sounded like something big milling around. I stopped and froze were I was, trying to let my eyes adjust to the darkness. I could see something big moving around in the darkness. Finally, it looked like two horses were milling around in the darkness. I thought it was strange that they weren't sleeping and also they didn't make any whinnying noises even though something seemed to have them spooked. Feeling relieved I knew what the shapes in the darkness where, I continued down the road.

I went about another 300-400 ft down the road and was right near an old blocked off dirt road entrance to Fitzgerald Lake. This is when things got scary. Off toward the Northwest side of the lake about 150-200 yards into the woods, I heard the the most horrible scream that I ever heard. It sounded like a woman screaming "heeelp" "heeelp". It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The thing that was even more strange about it was that it was too high pitched and loud for the distance away that it was. I started to pick up my pace to get the hell out of there. What became horrifying to me was that the screaming continued and seemed to be following me and closing in on me from an angle through the woods from the lake. I finally made it to the Haydenville line on North Farms Rd and was relieved that the screaming stopped.

However, my ordeal was not yet over. I could hear something following me in the edge of the road in the woods. I couldn't really hear it walking loudly but oddly enough it sounded like clanking metal or a small bell clanging when it walked. When I stopped,it stopped. When I started it started. Whatever it was that was following me kept edging closer and closer until I thought that I would see it emerge from the edge of the woods. Just at this time I was finally almost at the driveway of a house. I heard a very loud and large branch cracking noise like a large branch was stepped on or broken from a tree. I felt that this thing, whatever it was, was coming to get me. I have never been so terrified in my life. I ran for my life for home, looking over my shoulder the entire way.

Although I never actually saw what was following me that night, I noticed some similarities to the experiences of others on the site and thought it would be interesting to share my experience with everyone. It also felt good to get this off my chest,so to speak, as I didn't tell many people about this because they would think I was crazy. There aren't very many,if any, reports of bigfoot in this area, however, after researching the subject, I remembered other strange things in the woods in the same area when younger. On several occasions I heard what sounded like someone "chopping" wood in rather remote areas. When I looked around the area where I thought the noises came from, I found nothing. There where also a couple of times I got the eerie feeling that I was being watched and felt that I should leave the woods. Another time in the summer, I found a strangley dismembered small deer near a large pile of rocks near the woods. What was strange was all of it's legs appeared to be broken. I am very interested in the subject of bigfoot and hope that others that have had experiences will share them with all of us so that we may all gain valuable information on this elusive creature.
