Description of event: I am not sure if you would be interested in my observations being that these are from Indiana and not Oregon, but BFRO has not responded nor has IBAG. I haven't sent them my second or third observations as they only happened a couple of months ago.
My first "sighting" was back in late March or early April of 2005. I coach my sons little league baseball team and we were on our way home from practice. It was dark, around 8:00-8:15 PM. We were traveling east on HWY 62 just outside of Charlestown, Indiana. I had just crossed the bridge over Fourteen Mile Creek and was going up the long hill. On the left side of the hill is a very steep, mostly rock, hill. I noticed something odd halfway up the hill. Something on the left side of the road was "absorbing" my headlights. The rock face was jagged in this area and was illuminated by my headlights, but something was definitely "absorbing" my headlights. There was a curve coming so I wrote it off as an odd shadow and refocused on the road. As we passed this "object", my 11 yo daughter said, "Daddy, WHAT, was THAT!" I asked her "What was what?” and she said, "That black thing back there." Jokingly, I replied, "Don't know, maybe it was Bigfoot." Well, I have been back through there several times at that time of night and have never seen this object again in that spot, so, there was definitely something there. A couple of weeks later we were again on our way home from practice and as we passed the spot of the sighting my son asked me what it was I saw. Since I didn't actually "see" it, I said, "Well, it looked to me like whatever it was sitting down." My daughter quickly and matter of factly corrected me, saying "No it wasn't, it was standing up." I asked her how she knew and she replied, "Because, I could tell by it's profile." Kind of freaked me out how serious she was, actually. Anyway, perhaps that's why no one else has responded, since there is no way I could say, "I saw some tall hairy biped by the highway." That is, however, the only thing I could imagine this thing being.
My second observation is, in my opinion, much more interesting. My brother, who lives approximately 10 miles away from between Otisco and Henryville, needed me to help him put some underpinning on his modular home. His previous trailer had burned to the ground a year prior and it had/has taken him a while to get everything back to the way it was. I managed to get to his house before him (he had been at our mothers). I decided to have a look around...okay, I really had to go to the bathroom, bad, so I went down by his barn and relieved myself. On my way back up to the house I noticed what appeared to me to be a Bigfoot print. There was a trench dug to run his gas line to his house and the piles of dirt on both sides of the trench were still there. The print was in one of these piles by the trench. I began to look around and noticed what looked to be possibly another print. We had had some rain in day’s prior and the ground was muddy. The other print was on hard dirt, versus the soft dirt the piles consisted of. There was no indention, but the ground was lighter in color, as if it had been compressed and didn't absorb as much water, so it was drying faster and appeared to be approximately the same size as the other print. This print was approximately six feet from the other. My brother finally showed up and I immediately said, "Did you know you have Bigfoot tracks down here?" He said, "What, where?" As I showed him he kind have freaked out a little bit. He said, "You know, Wally (his dog) went missing a couple of weeks ago. That's not like her, Todd, she never wanders off." I told him Bigfoot would kill small pets such as dogs and cats. He was getting a little freaked out by now. After we worked on the underpinning for a while we took a short break and I, being fascinated with these tracks, began looking around. By the way, his house has woods all around, lots of woods. The terrain is rather hilly as well. There is a small ravine beside his house, and this is the direction these tracks were heading, so, I peered down over the hill. Looking down in the ravine I noticed what I thought to be a small "X" structure. I walked down and looked at it, but, as I have never truly seen one, couldn't tell at that time if that is what it was or not. Just as we were getting ready to start back on the underpinning I told my brother he had limb formations down over the hill. While we were looking at it from up top, he stated it was just limb fall. No sooner than he said that did I realize that the "X" had a tree bow directly behind it. That's when I started freaking out a little bit. Ever since my daughter and I had our sighting I have been researching Bigfoot a lot on the Internet. Anyway, we walked back behind his barn where he has a path in the woods that leads to a little spot to camp. When we got back there, there were large areas where the leaves on the ground were in total disarray. Not on the path, but in the woods near the path. He lives next door to where I grew up, and I spent many a day playing in the woods. I can't recall ever seeing leaves messed up like that.
The third observation wasn’t quite as substantial as the other two. This past summer I took my children to a different area of Fourteen Mile Creek to do a little wading and swimming. On our walk to the spot were we swim I noticed what looked very much like a partial footprint on the bank of the creek. It showed five toes and the ball behind the toes. It was so obvious that as we were walking back my 9-year-old son actually noticed it and pointed it out to me.
Also noticed late this past fall a dead deer about 20 feet off the road not far from my sighting. The day after noticing it, I noticed its stomach had been ripped open. It wasn't like that the previous day. Not sure if that means much.
Due to the experiences I have had I have decided to begin making excursions out in some ideal locations. I have a friend who has had a couple of interesting experiences while out in the woods. He said he was once ginseng hunting when he noticed it all of a sudden got quiet. He said all of a sudden he felt like he was being watched. He believes in Bigfoot also and has agreed to join me. I have another friend who has to “see to believe” who has also agreed to join me. I feel it is important to have a skeptic along to avoid tunnel vision.
As all of this will be new to me, any suggestions or ideas you may have for our excursions would be greatly appreciated. I don’t have all the cool gadgets, but have managed at least a digital camera. We will not be armed, as I do not believe in the killing of these creatures.
Thank you for your time, best regards,
