REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: My wife and I were on our way to Roseburg from Coquille when we rounded a corner on Wagon Rd and my wife spotted something near the river bank. She yelled at me, "There's a bear right there." We stopped to look and the bear stood up on two legs and walked up a steep bank very fast. We knew it was no bear when it stood up. It had to be at least 8 feet in height and very heavy. I could smell the thing and it left footprints behind. We did not go down to the prints because we were afraid it might come back. The track from the road looked to be 15 inches or more. We could here the thing breaking branches or brush and it was letting out a deep garbled sound. We didn't report it because they would have thought us nuts.
