REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: August 2006, it was dusk at my home on happy valey road near Stanwood, Washington. I couldn't help but notice loud noises coming from the ravine with a stream that ran through the 20 acres on my property. I heard large branches clearly breaking and a roaring yell that was unlike anything I ever heard, or could identify. I yelled at it. It just kept doing the same thing for 15 minutes. My two dogs were highly territorial and would normally go after anything on the property but they just looked up at me like, "we're not going down there."
After 15 minutes I went inside my house to try to get my girlfriend to come listen but she said, "If it's what you're describing, I'm not going out there."
I stayed in the house as it was dark now. Nothing else to report the rest of the night. The next day I went down in the swamp to try to see any evidence. I was up to my knees in mud and in the middle of Russian Thistle everywhere. I didn't make it very far. There wasn't any noises while I was down there but I didn't feel alone.
About 3 or 4 hours later a friend of mine came over and I told him the story. He asked where it happend and I walked him about 200 feet to the edge of the ravine. Then we heard the creature again doing the exact same thing as the night before. We listened about five minutes. I asked him what he thought it was. He said "I don't know, but good luck." and then jumped in his car and left me standing there with this thing still yelling and breaking large branches.
I went back in the house. I had many rifles for hunting but never picked one up and thought about using it. I wasn't scared but had tingly feelings all over my arms and very heightend senses. I'll never forget it. The way it sounded I don't want to see it. It sounded like a monster. Very upset. Was probably getting stung by all those Russian Thistles.
