Description of event: In 2001 I was a U.S. Marine stationed at the MCMWTC in Bridgeport, California. I was driving Northbound on the Hwy 395, entering the town of Walker, near the Eastern Sierra Mountains in Nevada bordering California. As I was entering the town I observed a very large reddish brown furry animal, on two feet with very long arms cross the road approximately 60 ft in front of me in broad daylight. It had a smooth gait and crossed the road in only a few steps. It was coming out from a slope with some trees going east across 395 into the trees by Lake Walker. I was shocked at what I saw, especially because it was in daylight and so close to a populated area. I thought of stopping but fear and doubt of what I saw kept me on the road. To this day, I still question what I saw and doubt my own eyes and memory.
