REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: Was having a picnic lunch with a friend that likes to talk about esoteric things (sasquatch was not one of her subjects, nor mine til then). I looked to my right into the forest just back from the creek bed (parallel to me). Directly in my view I saw what appeared to be a female, juvenile, moss-covered, ape-like creature that was sitting down also and mimicking me eating my sandwich! I was in shock and silent. I watched in amazement. I know it knew I could see it. It seemed to be smiling with its eyes and a monalisa grin. I could see the glimmer and intelligence from her eyes as she ate the leaves from low brush that grows on the creekside there. In hindsight I guess it was eating in slow-motion because I was taking bites of my sandwich slow; as it displaced my shock back to me! I knew this was a unique experience. I tried to turn to my friend to tell her, but the moment I looked away it was gone. The camouflauge unsurpassed! (it could have just closed its eyes and you wouldn't be able to see it). Never will forget it! Didn't think to look for footprint, unless on sand heavy forest ground-cover and briars probably hindered any further effort. Besides I couldn't stop talking about it for days. I could probably go back to the same exact spot again though. I didn't realize until now that there were two other sightings in California in 1999. Perhaps migratory or extremely curious like she wanted to have lunch with the girls. Amazing!!!
