We don't want to give exact location just yet. We believe this is part of their fall winter migration area and we don't want any new people, with their scent, possibility pushing them out of the area. We have had only a very curious attitude from these animals so far and we would like to keep it that way.

REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: On this trip we couldn't make it in from the Northern passage. It had snowed more and it was over a foot deep so we rerouted and came in from the Southern passage in which there is an open desert range with cattle that you have to go across. Entering the southern passage we had to go down a very steep, narrow trail with a very steep drop off to the right of the trail.
As we were driving down we noticed a set of cow tracks coming up and over, onto the narrow trail, which we found to be strange. Our theory is something had to scare a cow to make it climb such a steep hill. As we continued to drive we noticed more cow tracks coming from the direction we were heading. What was strange is that the cows looked like they were drunk. Their tracks were swaying back and forth. Our theory is the cows were looking behind them while they were leaving the area. Something had to have spooked them.
As we pulled up to our spot and parked our truck, the snow was about 9 inches deep. We had brought Jimmy's daughter with us. As soon as she got out of the truck she took 25 pictures across the whole area that we were in so we could go through them later. We noticed that all the prints of bigfoot on the side of the road we found last week that stretched 1/2 mile long were buried in snow but about 40 ft up from where we parked we found some new prints that looked like they were a couple of days old. They were from a smaller juvenile. When you looked straight down at the prints they were not flat. They were angled at about 3o degrees. Our theory is the animal was running.
You could see its toenails in the prints. They were about 2 inches long and came to a sharp point. We took several pictures with a tape measure next to them then we walked back down the road to find the exact trail that we exited from last week but I was off by about 50 ft. As we were walking in about a 100 yards, all three of us heard a very, very loud female high pitched bangie scream that sounded like it came from across the open valley at another spring thats about 1 1/2 away. We all stopped in our tracks and turned around to look in that direction an then looked at each other in amazement.
We continued on about another 60 yards when we reached the opening of the trail in the gorge by the big pine tree with the branches broken off. We all heard the same scream but twice as loud and twice as close to us. At this point I was concerned. If the mother was hunting across the valley and left the juvenile on our side, we could be putting ourselves in a bad position. The trail we were entering was very dense with pine trees and brush and we were walking in 14 inches of snow at this point but we decided to continue on. About 65 yards in, we reached our trail camera that we had baited with food. We noticed the small container of honey, garlic, and bacon we left in the tree branches were still there untouched. We couldn't tell if the apples were still there but they might still be under the snow. The blueberries and strawberries were gone.
So we checked our trail camera and rebaited the area with more goodies. Then we went back down the trail to exit and, when we reached the opening and the big pine tree with the broken branches, we heard another female high pitched bangie scream again. It was coming from across the road from where we parked our truck and it was loud. We then found the same trail we exited from last week and we noticed pee spray marks. You know how a dominant male dog marks his territory; he will just spray enough but wont pee all the way? That's what this was and it was every ten ft. for about 60 ft. We also noticed above each pee spray spot there was very, very large tracks that looked like they were snowed over a bit but you could see the impressions and they went from pee spray spot to pee spray spot.
We took several pictures. Then, instead of walking to the road, we cut up and over to a smaller trail that overlooked the drivable trail, and our truck ,and the bushy area where we collected the stool sample last week. Also, as you walk across this trail, you can look up at the large boulder and pine tree that jimmy saw the reddish color 7 1/2 to 8 ft. animal last week. As we were walking I was concerned with knowing there was a large animal across the road somewhere so I was looking towards that area.
At that time Jimmy and his daughter saw a juvenile stand up from behind a big boulder, a 100 yards up on a high ridge. It stood up for only about three seconds and, the way they described it, it sounded just like the little one behind my truck on Thanksgiving. About two minutes later they spotted another juvenile standing on another ridge in between a pine tree and a boulder. They said it was about a foot taller than the first one, which will corroborate the Kodak pictures I took on the Friday after Thanksgiving where there were two different size juvenile prints.
It was starting to get dark and we were concerned about making it up the very step and narrow trail leaving the area so we left. We will be going back soon .
