REPORT DETAIL
Description of event: We had been hearing them as they came down the ridge to get to the reservoir. They guys told me what it was but I didn't believe them. So, we hooked up airport landing lights in the back of the old pickup, along with guns & ammo (self defense, not to harm them) and went back up to the reservoir at dusk. When we heard them coming down, we remained quiet until they got into the position where we had pointed the lights. Sure enough.... there were 4 of them (2 adults & 2 juveniles) on a deer path right across the gully from where we were set up. They were munching on dried berries, etc. When we put the lights on them, the 2 juveniles hid behind the bushes, and the 2 adults went behind trees. We kept yelling and throwing rocks around them (not at them) until one of the adults came out from the trees and started down the hill . . . we thought he'd probably cross the creek and come up to where we were. So we took off. But he came down the hill on 2 feet, riding his heels down the dirt.... NOT a bear . . . NOT a man.
