Description of event: I was building a library in Port Orford. I would drive up Elk River to camp for the nights since I lived out of town. One night I was sitting on the picnic table reading the local paper by lamp light. No fire. I heard a very strange noise or yell. I have lived in the woods at log camps, hunting or just camping and have never heard this call. What makes me believe is that they were talking to each other on opposite sides of the river. I listened for several minutes then climbed in my truck a bit scared. A few nights later I heard the same thing. I had to go back just out of curiosity. It wasn't two nights in a row but it was the same sound in the same place. I know what I heard.
