Description of event: Stopped to use the restroom. A man was out of gas and needed to call AAA. As soon as I handed the phone over I heard whoops being called in the forest to north of me. I grabbed my headset with amplifier and turn them up. I could hear clear and crisp. I lived in the forest most of my life. I know most bird calls. It was unique. A call for sure. No answer tho, maybe just alert tone. I sent my dog in to the brush towards the sounds. He is old but still roamed around. My gut feel knew it was important. I heard at least 6 loud whoops and a few more that trailed off. I was alert and sober. Just driving home from the coast. I just check the sound files on brfo and it was the same sounds... I have done my research and know few others that had encounter and sightings. But this was odd and unique.
