REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: Fall of the year, late October, it was a cool clear afternoon. I was out bow hunting a large wooded piece of property near wild river state park that I had hunted many times. Everything that evening was normal right up until closing time when the light really started to fade. I was getting ready to climb down out of my stand when I heard something crashing through the brush on the ridge behind me. I stopped and waited to see if I could see what was causing all the noise. I didn't want to climb down and spook a deer out of the area. After 30 seconds to a min I noticed a large figure standing erect slightly crouched on two feet moving down a ridge off to my left. My first thought was someone was trespassing. After a few min of watching the figure I started to doubt it was a person. Due to the awkward way it walked and its direction of travel. (Not toward any roads or structures just wandering through the woods near dusk). I began to climb down out of the stand keeping an eye on the figure, still moving 60 or so yards off to my left. When my feet touched the ground there was a noise from my feet crushing the dry leaves. The figure spooked from the noise and ran another 30 years or so in the direction it had been traveling before it crouched next to a tree. I began backing out away from the figure that was now harder to see in the failing light, towards the trail that led back to my truck. My truck was a good 3/4 of a mile or so hike back from my stand. The figure then moved toward me down into a shallow draw that ran between us. At this point I lost sight of the creature due to the dim light and terrain change. In the first half of the trail back I took slow, listening for any sign of the creature. The last 1/4 or so I sprinted the last stretch to my truck figuring I had put some distance between us. When I reached in my truck I got in and left. I revisited the site a day or two later and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. There are lots of broken sticks in the woods it was hard to determine its exact path.
