In the same area(Cascade Locks, Oregon) Jeff Dolan also did a night hike
up the Wyeth trail, 3 - 4 miles east of Cascade Locks, in the winter,
October, 1975. They were in a clearing when they heard the sound of two
rocks being slapped together behind them. Three more times they heard this
noise, from the left, then from the right and again in front of them. Again
they never saw anything, and there was no later repeat of the clacking
noise. The next day there was snow, but they could find no sign of tracks.
