Autumn's remodel job... Part Four 03/25/09 This is what you get when you live in the country and have a housecat who kills mice, but tucks them under the corner of Mom's rug instead of eating them.
On to the remodeling pics. The bathroom was next on the list. The old stand-up shower with cement floor was a blast to demolish. I ripped up the old linoleum (hindsight informs me that it would have been much easier to just smooth the rough spots and install over it).
In order to fit a tub in the bathroom, the wall between the bathroom and the closet had to go. This is the wall I removed. This next photo is an EXCELLENT example of how THIN the walls are in this house. And yes... the outside walls are just as thin!
The wall, from the other side, during the demolition process. I love sledgehammers! :D
Meanwhile this filthy relic - once relegated as a fish pond in Mom's greenhouse - was to become our bathtub/shower. Grimy as it is, these suckers sell for about $1500. It'll be a gem when it's all cleaned up. Someone had painted the INSIDE of the tub with latex long ago, so I had to use paint stripper to clean it out.
Back to the bathroom... the wall's out, the floor's up and it's ready for drywall and vinyl.
The bathroom, with the floor laid, the drywall up and the tub in. I still have to refinish the tub. I'm going to use an epoxy paint...
Framing in the new wall in the bathroom. This is the first wall I've ever built. Cutting the angles was really hard!
Next time, I'll have pics that look like a real-live house. :) I'm beginning to move stuff in and the rooms are really coming together. Stay tuned! ON TO THE LAST PAGE! THE FINAL PICS!!!
